Raffaele Di Mauro takes office at Gargano National Park: "Fighting fires and engaging with mayors are among our priorities."

Yesterday , the appointment of the commissioner, which could soon be transformed into a presidential decree, will be followed by the installation of the Monte Sant'Angelo headquarters next Monday. The era of Raffaele Di Mauro , the young Forza Italia councilor in the Foggia municipality, begins at the Gargano National Park. He will be responsible for leading the largest and most important protected area in Puglia, at a particularly difficult time following the devastating fires in Manfredonia and San Giovanni Rotondo, two of the park's most important cities.
First of all, I would like to thank Environment Minister Pichetto Fratin . I believe the time has come for the Park to reconnect with its local community and the population, but especially with the mayors, to analyze the various issues plaguing the Gargano, starting with the dramatic fire situation. I will tackle this issue head-on. First, we will open a dialogue with the various ministries to make the first moves on behalf of the region. We will request more staff to monitor and control the Park. Then, we will strengthen monitoring with new technologies, especially video surveillance.
What about our relationship with environmental associations? "We absolutely must resume dialogue with them, finding the right balance, because the Gargano Park must not only protect the environment, but also be a means of promoting and developing our land. I will do everything with the utmost responsibility."
